Backend and data
The Manage tab
Your app's backend control panel, where you see and manage its data, sign-ups, files, keys, connected services, logs and usage.
The Manage tab is your app's backend control panel. It holds everything your app keeps behind the scenes: the data people save, the people who sign up, files, the private keys your app uses to talk to other services, and what the app uses to run.
You don't have to set anything up before you use it. Buildliy runs the backend for you, and the AI fills it in as it builds. Manage is where you look at what's there, make quick changes by hand, and see what things cost.
Open the Manage tab
Click Manage at the top of the right side of the workspace, next to Preview and Code. The sections are listed down the left side. When the panel is narrow, they appear as a row across the top that you can scroll sideways.
Manage controls your app's real data and keys, so most of it is only available to the project's owner.
When Manage fills in
Every new app gets its own private database on its first build. Until the AI creates the app's first table, Overview shows Get a managed backend for your app and a Set up backend button. You don't need to press it: the backend is marked ready by itself the first time the AI creates a table, for example when you ask for sign-in, saved favorites or bookings.
Let people create an account and save their favorite recipes.
Once the backend is on, Overview shows a Ready status and the sections start filling in as your app is built and used. If setup ever stops partway, you'll see Backend setup didn't finish with a Retry setup button.
The sections
| Section | What it's for | Learn more |
|---|---|---|
| Overview | A snapshot of your app's backend: what it used to run over the last 30 days, its status, and quick links to the other sections | Below |
| Backend | Choose where your app's data and accounts live: Buildliy hosting (the default) or your own Supabase or Neon project | Use your own backend |

| SQL editor | Run SQL against your app's database, for people who know it | Run SQL |
| App AI | AI features your app's visitors use, like a chatbot, paid from your credits | AI in your app |
| Logs | A running record of what happens in your app's backend, and errors from your live app | Logs and errors |

Overview
Overview is the first thing you see when you open Manage. It shows:
- Usage · last 30 days. How many credits this app used to run, a small day-by-day chart, and how many of this month's free hosting credits are left (they're shared by all your apps). Click See usage for the full breakdown. If your app runs on your own Supabase or Neon project, this card instead says the app is self-managed and its database doesn't use your Buildliy credits.
- Status. Whether the backend is ready, plus a few details about it.
- Features. Cards for Database (how many tables and rows), Users (how many people have signed up) and Logs (how much happened in the last hour). Click a card to open that section.
- User accounts. Email and password sign-up is built into Buildliy hosting. View users opens the Users section.
- Back up to GitHub. Copies your app's latest version to a private repository on your own GitHub account. Connect GitHub first with the GitHub button next to Publish. See GitHub.
Manage or chat?
Use Manage to look at things and make small, direct changes, like fixing a typo in a saved row, adding a key or removing a test account. Use the chat for anything that changes how your app works, such as adding a new kind of data, a sign-in page or an email feature. The AI then updates both the app and its backend together.
A few changes in Manage reach your live site only after you publish again, for example a new or changed secret, or a connector you switch on.
Open a section directly
You can open the Manage tab on a specific section by adding ?cloud= and the section's name to your project's address. For example, ?cloud=secrets at the end of the address opens Secrets. Some emails from Buildliy use this to take you straight to the right place.
| Section | Add to the address |
|---|---|
| Overview | ?cloud=overview |
| Backend | ?cloud=backend |
| Database | ?cloud=database |
| Backups | ?cloud=backups |

| Connectors | ?cloud=connectors |
| SQL editor | ?cloud=sql-editor |
| App AI | ?cloud=app-ai |
